Milton Road Patient Participation Group

The Patient participation Group (PPG) meets every 3 months with more of the ‘running’ of the group being performed by the members themselves. Where possible each meeting is attended by a GP partner.

Our group consists of members aged mid 40’s and up. It has continued to be hard to recruit younger people, The most commonly cited reason for this was that they were too busy (work & family commitments) to give up the time. So we have to make sure we take account of the views of those with younger relatives who use the surgery, the young at heart and ask ourselves how we think the younger generations would see an issue

Although our group may not be completely representative in terms of demographics, it may well be representative with a large number of users of the Milton surgery, with (on average) our younger patients enjoying better health and attending less frequently though we have considered how we’d approach younger members, maybe using the Child flu vaccinations as an opportunity to get input from younger families.

We have continued to hold the meetings in the evening to allow the working population to attend.

We remain open to new members and both inside and outside of the surgery encourage younger and strive to be more ethnically diverse, even if only for the occasional meeting rather than as a ‘commitment’.

Improved Access

We are working together with other local practices to offer patients access to more appointments in the early mornings, evenings and at weekends. To find out more about these services, please contact the practice.
